When I was 95 kgs I used to dream about getting thin.
One day I started following crash dieting and my weight came down to 63 kgs in 6 to 8 months.
The problem was I lost a lot of muscle mass and my BMR dropped down.
BMR or Basal Metabolism Rate is the energy your body requires while at rest. Our body uses energy while we sleep, walk, eat etc
But because of my dieting I lost lot of water and muscle along with fat. This meant - even if I would eat a little bit of food, I would gain weight.
To compensate for that I started working out. As my muscles grew my BMR elevated. My body started consuming more energy while at rest, while walking and even while sleeping. Because of this, I was able to eat and lead a normal life and still maintain a healthy weight weight.
Moral of the story - Dieting is not the solution to control obesity, Working out is!!!
